Pair of vintage Drostdy vases

I know that this vintage shell vase is pretty terrible, but I just couldn’t help myself – over the years I’ve developed a serious soft spot for Drostdy pottery! And I actually do quite like it – the mint green glaze is great and in the right setting I think it could even look quite stylish – a mini greenhouse look in a bathroom with loads of ferns and air plants? The larger ball-shaped Drostdy vase is obviously much more accessible, and as such it’s been used a lot more. Years of using it as a vase means that the glaze is quite stained on the inside, but not enough that you really notice it. I love the roundness of the shape, and again the colour is just lovely!

A nice pair of vintage vases from one of South Africa’s best known names in pottery.

Price: Shell vase – R110; Ball vase – R140 SOLD
