Corning Ware Skillet – SOLD

27 Oct

Large Corning Ware saucepan

Large Corning Ware saucepan

In all my years of buying and selling Corning Ware I think this is the first time that I’ve come across this nice large skillet! I’ve sold loads of the little saucepans before, but this is the size of a proper frying pan, and has a spout on either side for easy pouring. Isn’t it handsome?! I love the black handle, and the fact that it’s in such decent nick! There are a few scuff marks here and there, but overall its condition is excellent!

Dimensions: 26cm in diameter x 5cm deep; 45cm long (incl. handle)

Price: R290

Corning Ware Baking Trays – SOLD

Pair of Corning Ware broil/bake trays

This is the first time that I’ve come a cross a Corning Ware baking tray – and I found not one, but two! At first I was a bit confused by these ‘trays’ (I thought they might be just that, trays), but I’ve read a few reviews and apparently these baking trays are just great – supposedly they make the most wonderful cookies! Although the one review I read said that the trays take a bit of time to cool down, so it makes sense to have two – if you make two batches of cookies the first tray will be too hot for cookie dough once it comes out of the oven, so a second tray allows you to pop your next batch of cookies straight into the oven without waiting for the first tray to cool down!

Dimensions: Each tray measures 40cm long x 25.5cm wide x 2cm deep

Price: R220 each

Large Cast Iron Pot – SOLD

22 Oct

Large cast-iron pot

Large cast-iron pot

I love these old vintage cast-iron pots! They always come in the most wonderful pastel enamels, and I love how rounded the shapes are, plus this is a nice big pot – a bit larger than the ones you normally see. There’s some wear to the enamel, but the inside of the pot (the bit which counts the most) in is in pretty decent nick!

A great cooking pot that, with a bit of care, should last you for years to come!

Dimensions: 37cm long x 25cm wide x 18cm tall (with lid on)

Price: R340

Pair of Midcentury Swedish Pots – SOLD

22 Oct

Midcentury Jie Gantofta pots

Midcentury Jie Gantofta pots

Scandinavian design is world famous and I don’t think I’ve ever come across a Scandi design that I didn’t love, so I was quite surprised when I looked up the work of Swedish company, Jie Ganofta – they’ve made some quite terrifying pieces over the years! Luckily though, they also made some very cool pieces, like this pair of cooking pots! I know they won’t be to everyones taste, but their chunky handles, and retro pattens really appeal to me, plus the colours are quite lovely! From what I’ve read, I’d guess that these pots date to sometime around the late 1950s, which is when the company were focusing on kitchenware. After this date they moved more into ornamental ware, which is when some of their scary designs came into production!

Dimensions: Large pot – 19cm tall x 16cm in diameter (at its widest); Medium pot – 6.5cm tall x 16cm in diameter (at its widest)

Price: R220 each

Le Creuset Oven Dish – SOLD

5 Oct

Vintage Le Creuset oven dish

Vintage Le Creuset oven dish

How fantastic is this lime green vintage Le Creuset pot?! I didn’t even know Le Creuset did anything in this crazy colour, but obviously they did and still do! The outside of this pot is pretty clean, but the inside is quite stained – but given that most sites date this pot to the 1950s, it’s not doing too badly! Plus even though it’s quite marked, it doesn’t seem to have lost all its gloss – generally when enamel becomes very matte, it also becomes much harder to clean, and I don’t think this has happened here.

A very cool and fantastic quality piece of cookware, that provided it’s looked after well, should last you for years and years to come!

Note: The pot is a bright apple (almost acid) green, but definitely not yellow – I think it looks more yellow in the photos than it is.

Dimensions: 30cm long x 20.5cm wide x 12cm tall (with lid on)

Price: R390

Cast-Iron Pan – SOLD

21 Sep

Cast-iron frying pan

Cast-iron frying pan

This cast-iron pan is in pretty good nick for its years! The underside of the pan is a bit worn, as is the wooden handle, but the enamel is nice and clean, in particular the coating on the inside of the frying pan which can often be quite worn. I love the classic yellow and blue colour combo (so pretty!) and even though the handle is starting to show its age it still adds nice character.

A great quality frying pan that’s sure to last you for years and years to come.

Dimensions: 28cm in diameter x 5cm deep x 53cm long (incl. handle)

Price: R360
