Enamel Colander – SOLD

14 Oct

Enamel colander

Enamel colander

I’m not sure that this enamel colander has any real age to it, but it’s a decent quality colander in good condition. The enamel’s got a bit of weight to it, which is generally a sign of good enamelware, and I’m always a fan of this farm-style speckled finish.

A decent piece of kitchenalia that should last you for a good many years to come.

Dimensions: 25cm in diameter x 12cm high

Price: R150

Vintage Enamel Jug – SOLD

14 Oct

Vintage enamel jug

Vintage enamel jug

Back in the day this would have been a great quality enamel jug. It’s a nice heavy piece of enamelware that’s been really well used in its time, but sadly its time has passed and it’s no longer functional as a jug for drinking out of – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still use it as a vase for flowers or for watering your kitchen herbs. Just think how cheerful a bunch of flowers will look in this ‘vase’ sitting on your kitchen counter!

Dimensions: 15cm tall x 11cm in diameter (at its widest)

Price: R110

Pair of Enamel Bowls – SOLD

5 Oct

Pair of enamel bowls

Pair of enamel bowls

Again these enamel bowls don’t have any real age to them, but they’re still quite lovely! Wonderfully bright colours and floral patterns aside, it’s the fact that they have lids that gives them real appeal! Even new, these enamel bowls are hard to find with lids. So even though they’re a bit tinny I’m still a big fan of this sweet pair!

Use them for serving rice (the lid should keep your rice warm for a wee bit longer) or for any side dishes – they’ll add a fantastic splash of colour to your table!

Dimensions: Medium bowl – 21.5cm in diameter x 13cm tall (with lid one); Small bowl – 17.5cm in diameter x 8cm tall (with lid one)

Price: R145 for the pair

Small Polish Enamel Kettle – SOLD

1 Oct

Small Polish enamel kettle

Small Polish enamel kettle

Isn’t this wee enamel kettle just lovely! It’s a bit smaller than these kettles normally are, so would ideally be suitable for a single person or a couple with no kids, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in character! The red enamel is so bright and cheery and compliments the white and yellow daisy perfectly. There are a few small dings in the enamel on the outside of the teapot, but the inside is nice and clean.

A delightful little pot that will look so sweet sitting on top of your gas or electric stove.

Dimensions: 13.5cm in diameter x 13cm tall (excl. handle)

Price: R290

Large Enamel Bowls – SOLD

30 Sep

Large enamel bowls

Large enamel bowls

While these enamel bowls are lovely to look at (they really are!) they’re pretty rubbish quality. I didn’t buy them new, but I suspect that the don’t have any real age to them – they’re the kind of enamel that you find in old trading stores. But that doesn’t mean that they’re not really beautiful! It just means that they won’t wear that well, and won’t last for years to come like the good old fashioned bowls would. They’re still great as decor pieces, or for serving large salads or rice dishes when you have Christmas dinner, or some other big family gathering.

Note: The one bowl is slightly smaller than the other two.

Dimensions: Large bowls – 11cm tall x 34cm in diameter; Medium bowl – 10.5cm tall x 31.5cm in diameter

Price: R95 each

Oversized Enamel Jug – SOLD

17 Sep

Oversized vintage enamel jug

Oversized vintage enamel jug

This is one serious enamel jug! Back in the day I think that this would have been the equivalent of taking a bath – I think this is the type of jug that people would have used to pour water into an enamel basin (in lieu of a hot tub with running water) so that they could clean themselves at the end of the day. Obviously because of its age it has some serious wear, and while I’m sure that you could still use it to wash up, I think it’s probably better suited as a vase for a killer bunch of flowers – it really is quite large!

Note: While the base is quite rusted, the jug doesn’t leak.

Dimensions: 30cm tall x 17cm in diameter

Price: R260
