Small Retro Glass Vase – SOLD

3 Dec

Small retro glass vase

Small retro glass vase

This vase may not be that large, but it’s definitely interesting – and in a good way! I really like the shape – those pinched sides make for a very striking design! It’s also a bit strange in that it looks to be moulded glass, but it’s much better quality than you’d expect to see with a mass-produced piece of glass? And while it’s a bit on the petite side, it’s still a very solid vase.

A great quality piece for all the retro lovers out there!

P.S. I’m not sure how clear it is from the photos, but the colour of the glass is a great charcoal grey.

Dimensions: 14.5cm tall x 11.5cm wide x 6.5cm deep

Retro Green Glass Jug – SOLD

2 Dec

Retro green glass jug

Retro green glass jug

I’ve got a bit of a thing for green glass at the moment – in fact I ‘ve got a bit of a thing for green in general (we’re about to paint our bathroom green!) – and this is particularly nice example of green glass. The colour is just glorious, and I absolutely love the shape of the jug! There’s a definite retro feel to the design with that slightly tapered body and eensy-weensy spout – the whole thing’s just fantastic! Plus it’s in perfect condition! What more could you ask for?

Dimensions: 19cm tall x 11.5cm in diameter (at its widest)

Price: R160

Retro Glass Bowls – SOLD

Pair of retro moulded glass bowls

Pair of retro moulded glass bowls

I know this glass isn’t hand-blown, but it’s still quite beautiful! The colours are so striking and I love the retro shapes! It doesn’t hurt matters that the glass is in perfect condition. The blue bowl would work well as an ashtray, but it could also work just as well as a bowl for dip, with the red bowl an accompanying chip (or more likely cracker) bowl – I’m not sure that it’s quite large enough for chips….

Dimensions: Red bowl – 16cm in diameter x 9cm tall ; Blue bowl – 18.5cm long x 8cm wide x 6cm tall

Price: Red bowl – R140; Blue bowl – R120

Tall Cylindrical Vase – SOLD

30 Nov

Tall cylindrical vase

Tall cylindrical vase

I really wish I knew something about this vase, but I’ve hunted for information online and come up with absolutely nothing! It’s a strangely difficult vase to photograph , and I have to sat I think it probably looks better in person. It’s a very tall piece, and I’m not sure how well that comes across in the photos, plus the way that the rim of the vase curls looks a bit clumsy in the pictures, but in reality it’s a very clean looking piece of glass. Not being able to find any about its history I obviously can’t say how old it is, but my gut tells me that it has some age to it, plus it took us quite a while to get it completely clean – there were some very stubborn old water stains that you normally only see with older pieces of glass.

This is a great statement piece that would look fantastic on display as is, or filled with a bunch of delicious monster leaves or some other equally impressive flowers.

Dimensions: 35cm tall x 11cm in diameter

Price: R330

Glass Dessert Bowls – SOLD

25 Nov

Scalloped glass dessert bowls

Scalloped glass dessert bowls

I’ve been hunting these glass dessert sets for years now! They come in a fantastic peachy-pink, a lovely blue and this super cheerful yellow, but more often than not the sets aren’t complete, so whenever I spot a bowl I nab it! This yellow set wasn’t complete when I bought it, but my obsessive buying of these bowls meant that I was able to add the missing bowls and now we have a full set – yay! There are a few minor chips and scratches to the paintwork, but  this set is still in better nick than a lot of the bowls that I find.

A great set to serve your tasty Christmas put in!

Dimensions: Serving bowl – 20cm  in diameter x 8cm high; Individual bowls – 12cm in diameter x 5cm high

Price: R150 for the set

Italian Champagne Flutes – SOLD

28 Oct

Vintage Italian champagne flutes

Vintage Italian champagne flutes

I know black glass can sometimes have a bit of an ’80s vibe, but I don’t think that’s the case with these Italian champagne flutes. Something about the shape of the stem changes the look, and I suppose the fluted glass also adds a bit of very un-80s elegance to the design! It’s a shame that there are only five glasses as opposed to a traditional set of six, but the remaining glasses are all in perfect nick!

An unusual and very attractive set of glasses that will add a bit of vintage glamour to your next celebration!

Dimensions: Each glass measures 17.5cm tall x 5.5cm in diameter

Price: R140 for the set
