Art Deco Pendant Light – SOLD

1 Dec

Art deco pendant light

Art deco pendant light

The rod may not be nice and shiny (then again what is after 60 years?), but this art deco pendant light is still in excellent condition! It’s pretty unusual to find the glass in such good nick – not only is the glass damage free, but the silver trim seems to be near perfect! This pendant light would work perfectly in an entrance hall or guest bathroom. I have a bit of a passion for light fittings, I think they really make a house a home, and this light would make your home just super!

Dimensions: 75cm long (from tip of glass to end of rod);  Shade – 17cm in diameter x 15cm long

Price: R450

Retro Wall Mounted Light – SOLD

30 Oct

Vintage wall-mounted light

Vintage wall-mounted light

I bought this 1950s wall-mounted light in my hunt for bedside lamps, but then Justin decided that we should have a light on either side of the bed (makes sense I suppose!), but I really wish it had worked because it’s quite a beautiful light – very Mad Men-esque! There’s some wear to the brass goosenecks, and the salmon pink shades are a bit worse for wear, particularly where they knock into each other, but in the right bedroom (or hall or dining room), I know that it will look fabulous!

Dimensions: 40cm tall (when fully extended); Each shade measures 8cm in diameter

Price: R370

Blue Clamp Lamp – SOLD

23 Oct

Blue clamp lamp

Blue clamp lamp

I don’t think that this lamp is quite as old as some of the other clamp lamps that we’ve had for sale, but it’s still very attractive and I love the fact that it’s blue! It’s also in great nick and has a great little matching pale blue switch. There’s some minor wear to the paintwork, but nothing too serious, although I don’t think the quality’s quite as good as the older versions of this lamp.

Dimensions: 35cm long (when fully extended) x 14.5cm in diameter (across shade)

Price: R190

Vintage Clamp Lamp – SOLD

19 Oct

Vintage clamp lamp

Vintage clamp lamp

I really like how industrial this vintage clamp lamp is. The hood of the lamp seems to be made from chrome and still has a nice shine to it, but the clamp is a little worse for wear, and despite all our efforts to polish it up, is still quite worn looking. The chrome on the arm of the lamp is also quite corroded, but this is a still a very handsome and fairly unusual piece that would look great on a desk or bedside pedestal.

Dimensions: Approx. 25cm tall x 14cm in diameter (across shade)

Price: R280

Gooseneck Desk Lamp – SOLD

1 Oct

Vintage gooseneck lamp

Vintage gooseneck lamp

I think that this vintage gooseneck lamp is a fair bit older than most of the desk lamps you see on Mint. The base is quite solid, and the gooseneck looks to be brass, as opposed to the usual chrome. I think over the years someone’s interfered a bit with the lamp – the base looks like someone’s had a go with a can of spray paint, and I’m pretty sure that the plastic switch isn’t original. But despite all of this it’s still a very handsome lamp and not in too bad a nick for its age!

Dimensions: 37cm tall (when fully extended) x 11.5cm in diameter (shade); Base measures 16cm long x 9.5cm wide

Price: R200

Donald Duck Night Light – SOLD

16 Sep

Donald Duck night lamp

Donald Duck night lamp

How cool is this Donald Duck night light?! I just love him! I’ve had a few of these Disney character lamps over the years, but this little guy is probably the neatest lamp I’ve ever had – in fact I’m not sure that he’s ever been used? There’s a sticker on the base of the lamp where you open it up to change the bulb, and it looks like the sticker’s never been moved, so my guess is the lamp’s hasn’t even been turned on. I might be wrong, but either way old Donald’s still in great nick! There’s some yellow missing from his beak, but that looks more like a manufacturing defect to me than actual wear & tear.

A wonderfully quirky nightlight that will hopefully ease your little boy or girl off to sleep – although I’ve seen these lamps turned on and they look kind of mad, so don’t blame me if your kid complains of being chased by a crazed Donald Duck in his dreams!

Dimensions: 17cm tall x 10cm wide

Price: R220
