Vintage Heat-Rite Teapot – SOLD

12 Aug

Vintage Heat-Rite teapot

Vintage Heat-Rite teapot

This is my first time coming across the brand ‘Heat-Rite’, although obviously we’ve sold plenty of Everhot teapots over the years, and the principle’s pretty much the same. These handsome chrome and porcelain teapots have built-in felt tea cosies, designed to keep your tea warm for longer. This Heat-Rite version, while very slick, doesn’t seem quite the same quality as the original Everhot version (the felt lining has been rather shoddily trimmed and the chrome’s not as thick), but it’s in fantastic condition – in fact I don’t think it’s ever been used – and is super good looking!

Dimensions: 17cm tall x 13cm in diameter

Price: R220

Pink Everhot Teapot – SOLD

19 Dec

Vintage pink Ever-hot teapot

Vintage pink Ever-hot teapot

Sadly the metal cover on this Ever-hot teapot is a little battered and bruised, but the pale pink glaze more than makes up for any wear and tear! They’re quite hard to come by, but now and again you do see these Ever-hot pots in the most lovely pastel glazes! I’ve seen a pale blue and yellow before, and now pink! So exciting! But there’s no getting away from the rather poor condition of the ‘cosy’. Aside from the metal starting to corrode, there are also a few dings in the cover. Luckily though, the felt lining and the teapot itself are in pretty condition for their years, so all is not lost – it’s definitely still a functional (and very pretty!) teapot.

Dimensions: 15cm tall x 16cm in diameter

Price: R140

Everhot-Style Coffee Set – SOLD

12 Dec

Everhot-style coffee set

Everhot-style coffee set

Over the years I’ve seen all sorts of ‘Everhot‘ pots – you get some really beautiful, fantastic quality versions, and some slightly cheaper sets, that although very similar in style, are worlds apart. This set definitely falls into the latter group, with no maker’s mark, and a slightly rough-around-the-edges finish. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not a lovely set, and when you compare prices, you’ll see that these less fancy version can be pretty decent value for money! Plus they still look just as lovely on display, and will still do a decent job of keeping your pot of coffee nice and hot!

Note: The metal covers are slightly corroded, and the milk jug has some stained crazing (see pics under ‘more’)

Dimensions: Coffee pot – 21cm tall x 10cm in diameter; Milk jug – 9cm tall x 8cm in diameter; Sugar bowl – 8cm tall x 9cm in diameter

Price: R170 for the set

Ever-Hot Coffee Pot and Milk Jug – SOLD

27 Nov

Ever-Hot coffee pot & milk jug

Ever-Hot coffee pot & milk jug

I ordinarily wouldn’t have bought this Ever-Hot coffee pot as its missing its felt lining and has a fair bit of stained crazing, but as nice as the tea cosy function of the felt is, it’s still a perfectly functional (and very attractive!) coffee pot without it! And it’s also an original Ever-Hot pot – most of the pots that we sell aren’t actually the Ever-Hot brand, even though they’re in the same style. The other pots are often just as nice, but there’s definitely something special about the Ever-Hot versions!

A rather beautiful, albeit somewhat incomplete set, that will look great on display in your kitchen or dining room.

Dimensions: Coffee pot – 12.5cm in diameter x 17cm tall; Milk jug – 10.5cm in diameter x 6.5cm tall

Price: R160 for the pair

Art Deco Ever-Hot Set – SOLD

24 Nov

Art Deco Ever-Hot tea and coffee set

Art Deco Ever-Hot tea and coffee set

I’m pretty sure that this is the most expensive Ever-Hot set that I’ve ever put up for sale, and in turn the most that I’ve ever paid for one, but I promise you it’s worth every penny! Aside from the fact that it’s in such great condition – with the exception of some wear to the teapot ‘cosy’ and a few light scratches here and there, it’s pretty much spotless – the quality of this set is on another level! The ceramic pots themselves are actually a little less refined than I’ve seen before, but the metal covers (which are often the first things to go) are a far superior finish to the average Ever-hot-style pot.

A very striking set that promises to be the family heirloom that has your kids fighting over who gets what!

Dimensions & Prices:

  • Tea pot – R280; 15cm tall with lid on x 15cm in diameter
  • Coffee pot – R280; 18cm tall with lid on x 13cm in diameter

Everhot-Style Coffee and Teapot – SOLD

7 Oct

Everhot-style coffee & teapot

Everhot-style coffee & teapot

You can’t really go wrong with a good Everhot pot! In fact with their built-in tea cosies, I’m not really sure why they stopped making such a classic and clever design! Sadly the metal covers on this pair are quite badly scratched, but the ceramic pots are in excellent condition as is the felt lining, and unusually the handles that sit on top of the covers are also ceramic.

A very attractive, albeit slightly worn pair that promise to keep your tea and coffee nice and toasty!

Dimensions: Coffee pot – 18cm tall x 14cm in diameter (at its widest); Teapot – 14cm tall x 16cm in diameter (at its widest)
