Vintage Enamel Bread Bin – SOLD

7 Aug

Vintage H&H bread bin

Vintage H&H bread bin

This H&H enamel bread bin is a bit worse for wear, although I don’t think it’s doing too badly for its age. There are a few scratches to the paintwork, most notably on the top of the bread bin, as well as some minor corrosion on the inside of the bin. But to make up for that, it’s the most lovely minty green colour, and I love the fact that it still has its original H&H sticker, complete with a beautifully stylised loaf of bread!

A delightful piece that will add some great vintage character to your kitchen.

Large Enamel Jug – SOLD

13 Mar

Large enamel H&H jug

Large enamel H&H jug

These vintage H&H enamel jugs are really quite impressive! Goodness knows what they used a jug this size for, but it makes for a very striking vase – although you’d definitely be needing some seriously long stemmed flowers! The outside of the jug has quite a few fine scratches (I’m not sure what from?), but the inside of the jug is surprisingly clean.

A great bit of vintage enamelware that would look wonderful on display.

Dimensions: 27cm tall x 22cm in diameter (across base)

Price: R220

Hart Water Bottle – SOLD

26 Jun

Hart water bottle

Hart water bottle

This vintage Hart water bottle is probably in better nick than a lot of the Hart bottles that I’ve sold before. Often the bakelite lids are quite badly worn (I have two of these bottles and the lids on both of them are cracked), and sometimes the glass itself is marked, but here everything seems A-ok! These bottles make great water bottles for your fridge – so much more attractive than a plastic bottle, and better for you – no evil chemicals leeching into your water!

Dimensions: 23cm tall (with lid on) x 12cm wide x 7cm deep

Price: R120

Hart Stove-Top Percolator – SOLD

11 Jun

Hart stove-top percolator

Hart stove-top percolator

There’s a bit of a ding in the side of this Hart coffee percolator, but these coffee pots aren’t the most delicate of items so I don’t think that it matters too much! Despite being a bit basic I still find the design of this percolator really attractive, with its ribbed body, bakelite handle and glass lid. The inside of the percolator is in reasonably good condition, and should do a fine job of brewing you a nice strong cup of coffee to get you going on these chilly winter mornings!

Dimensions: 20cm tall x 10cm in diameter (at its widest)

Hart Stove-Top Percolator – SOLD

Hart stove-top percolator

Hart stove-top percolator

These vintage Hart coffee percolators are never in mint condition, but I suspect that they didn’t look that new even when they were straight out the box! It’s the nature of the design, which I suspect was made as either an entry-level coffee pot, or as a percolator for camping. But with its bakelite handle and glass lid it’s still very attractive, and will work perfectly well at brewing a good strong cup of coffee. And if you are the camping sort then you’re likely to have a way better looking coffee pot than your neighbors (although I do find camping equipment strangely attractive – even the modern designs!).

Vintage Enamel Jug – SOLD

12 May

Vintage H&H enamel jug

Vintage H&H enamel jug

Maybe it’s because it’s South African, but it always brings a smile to my face when I see the old Hendlers & Hart logo on the bottom of a piece of enamelware. It’s quite faint on this old enamel jug, which has seen a fair bit of use in its day, but it’s there clear as day if you know what you’re looking for.

A good looking (albeit a bit worn!) jug that still has a bit of life left in it – and when it’s completely worn out you can always use it as a vase for flowers.
