Hendlers Whistling Kettle – SOLD

Hendler's whistling kettle

Hendler’s whistling kettle

My obsession with kettles has got so bad that I now have a collection of retro kettles that don’t work! I just can’t seem to help myself – they’re so beautiful! I’ve decided that instead of tossing them I’m going to build a shelf and have a mini kettle museum! It’ll look so handsome! Luckily though, this retro Hendlers kettle is in perfect working order! The black cord has been replaced at some point with a more modern white one, and there’s some wear to the inside of the kettle, but other than that it’s not in bad nick at all. I love the raised floral design and the fact that it’s a whistling kettle is an added bonus!

Large Enamel Cooking Pot – SOLD

26 Feb

Retro Hendlers cooking pot

Retro Hendlers cooking pot

This retro enamel Hendlers pot is in great condition – either it wasn’t used very much, or whoever owned it took excellent care of it! It even has it’s original ‘Hendlers’ paper label on it! There’s some minor wear to the base of the pot, and a few specks of white paint on the lid (which I’m pretty sure shouldn’t be there), but otherwise this pot is super clean! I love the mad floral design with those bright orange flowers and yellow leaves – so beautifully illustrated!

A nice solid pot in excellent condition.

Dimensions: 26cm in diameter x 18cm tall (with lid on)

Price: R240

Hendlers Saucepan – SOLD

9 Dec

Vintage Hendlers saucepan

Vintage Hendlers saucepan

I love these vintage Hendlers cooking pots! Not only are they great quality with nice heavy bases, but they always have the most wonderfully kitsch designs! And the colours are so nice – wouldn’t you rather have a lovely blue or bright red pot to add a bit of interest to your kitchen than a plain stainless steel version? I know I would! And while the rim and base of the pot are a bit corroded, the enamel (inside and out) is in excellent condition! I’m fairly confident that this pot is going to keep going for many years to come!

P.S. Check out the red Hendlers pot that we still have for sale – don’t they make a nice pair?

Dimensions: 16.5cm in diameter x 12cm tall (with lid on)

Hendlers Enamel Pot – SOLD

Enamel Hendlers pot

Enamel Hendlers pot

This vintage Hendler‘s pot has definitely been well used over the years! We’ve managed to get it quite clean, but there are still some light scratches on the inside of the pot and some deeper scratches on the base of the pot, although they obviously won’t affect how well it functions. I’m fairly confident that it will be a good pot to cook in – Hendlers pots are generally pretty decent quality! I love the red and white enamel – there’s something about the colour red that just suits a kitchen perfectly – and while it’s pretty kitsch, the floral design is also very pretty!

A well made, and good looking old-school enamel pot that’s sure to serve you well for years to come!

Dimensions: 23cm in diameter x 17cm tall (with lid on)

Price: R220

Pair of Hendlers Pots – SOLD

17 Apr

Pair of Hendlers cooking pots

Pair of Hendlers cooking pots

How crazy is the pattern on this pair of Hendlers cooking pots? I love the colours and the stylised trees and flowers are very cool – although somewhat unusual for cookware! The smaller pot has some very stubborn stains on the inside base that won’t come clean, but I don’t think the stains are actually from wear – the enamel coasting isn’t actually damaged in any way.  Both pots also have some minor scratches to the enamel, and the bases show that the pots have seen a bit of use, but Hendlers are decent quality cookingware so I’m certain that these pots have years left of life in them!

Dimensions: Medium pot – 21cm in diameter x 17cm tall (with lid on); Small pot – 19cm in diameter x 15cm tall (with lid on)

Price: Medium pot – R150; Small pot – R120 / R250 for the pair

Electric Whistling Kettle – SOLD

13 Feb

Electric whistling kettle

Electric whistling kettle

I’ve had this identical whistling kettle before, but sadly this one’s not in quite as good a nick as the first. The inside of the kettle is quite marked, but a lot of vintage kettles are, and even though it’s a bit stained it’s still clean. Some of the plastic is also a bit marked, but the overall look of the kettle is still really attractive – and it’s got a great whistle!

Dimensions: 20cm tall x 18cm in diameter
